1. Herbal Remedies for Hysteria
Uses: Nervousness, Restlessness, Insomnia, Hiccups, Anger, Mental Exhaustion, Nervous Breakdown, Stress, Hysteria, Post-traumatic Stress, Anxiety
Comments: 3 tsp. Motherwort tincture
3 tsp. Passionflower tincture
3 tsp. Chamomile tincture
2 tsp. Gingko tincture
1 tsp. Schizandra tincture
Mix all of the tinctures together in a 1 oz. amber bottle with dropper assembly and shake well. Take 1 dropperful in warm water or juice 3 times a day or as needed.
2. Herbal Remedies for Stress
Uses: Stress
Comments: 3 tsp. Gotu Kola tincture
3 tsp. Oat Seed tincture
2 tsp. Astragalus tincture
2 tsp. Passionflower tincture
1 tsp. Motherwort tincture
1 tsp. Licorice tincture
Use one of two methods.
Combine the tinctures and store in a 1 oz. bottle. Take 1 dropperful 3 times daily or as needed.
Or
The above herbs can be mixed in their dried form in the same proportions as above (the amounts can be doubled). Place the mixture in a jar and pour enough vodka to cover the herbs. Let stand for 2 weeks, then strain off the herbs. Bottle the tincture and take as directed.
3. Herbal Remedies for Depression
Uses: Fatigue, Exhaustion, Mental Fatigue, Premenstrual Syndrome, Depression, Menopausal Depression
Comments: 4 tsp. Saint Johnswort tincture
3 tsp. Siberian Ginseng root tincture
2 tsp. Gingko leaf tincture
2 tsp. Lemon Balm tincture or glycerite
1 tsp. Licorice root tincture
Mix the tinctures together and store in a 1 oz. amber bottle with dropper assembly. Take 1 dropperful 3 times a day or as needed.
4. Herbal Remedies for Memory Loss
Uses: Emotional Trauma, Memory Loss, Viral Infections, Forgetfulness, Bacterial Infection, Headache, Anger, Fear, Depression, Grief, Fatigue
Comments: 8 fresh Rosemary sprigs
8 fresh (flowering) Lavender sprigs
8 oz. Vodka
8 oz. distilled water
1 tbsp. vegetable glycerin
Rinse the herbs under cold water, then pat dry with a clean towel. Pack the herbs into an 8-ounce glass jar and place the vodka over them. Seal the jar with a tight fitting lid. Set aside in a cool, dark place for 2 weeks, shaking once daily. Strain the herbs through a fine mesh sieve. Add the distilled water and vegetable glycerin. Store in a 16-ounce spray bottle. Use as a facial mister or a room spray.
Note: The essential oils of Rosemary and Lavender can be substituted for the fresh plant. If using essential oils, mix all the ingredients together and add 6 drops each of the essential oils. Shake well.
5. Herbal Remedies for Panic Attacks
Uses: Hysteria, Nervousness, Fear, Emotional Instability, Panic Attacks
Comments: 2 tsp. Motherwort tincture
2 tsp. Skullcap tincture
2 tsp. Oat Seed tincture
2 tsp. Linden tincture
1 tsp. Licorice tincture
1/4 inch Cinnamon stick
2 Cardamom pods
Combine all of these in a 1 oz. amber bottle and let sit for 5- 10 days to bring out the flavor of the spices. Take 1 dropperful 3 times a day or as needed.
6. Herbal Remedies for Alzheimer’s Disease
Uses: Forgetfulness, Alzheimer’s Disease, Mental Exhaustion, Mental Fatigue, Mental Fogginess, Memory Loss, Premature Aging
Comments: 4 tsp. Gingko tincture
4 tsp. Gotu Kola tincture
2 tsp. Siberian Ginseng tincture
2 tsp. Shizandra tincture
Fresh peppermint or 1 cinnamon stick
Mix the tinctures together in a small jar. Place the peppermint or the cinnamon in the jar and allow to stand for two weeks. Strain off the herb and store the tincture in an amber glass bottle with dropper assembly. Take 1 dropperful 3 times a day or as needed.
7. Herbal Remedies for HangOvers
Uses: Alcoholism, Viral Infections, Hangovers, Bacterial Infection
Comments: 1 tsp. Kudzu powder
1/2 tsp. dried Thyme
1/2 tsp. Ume Plum paste
1 cup water
In a small saucepan heat the water to a simmer. Add the Kudzu powder, stirring vigorously with a wire whisk to work out any lumps. Add more Kudzu powder, if necessary, to reach desired consistency. Remove from heat and mix in the thyme and Ume paste. This base sauce can be added to sauteed onions and mushrooms and served over rice, potatoes, or other grain. Or it can be worked into sauteed Burdock root, Dandelion greens or other vegetables as a side dish.
8. Herbal Remedies for Fatigue
Uses: Fatigue
Comments: 2 tsp. powdered Ashwaganda
2 tsp. powdered Astragalus
2 tsp. powdered Siberian Ginseng
2 tsp. powdered Shiitake
2 tsp. powdered Nettles
2 tsp. powdered Alfalfa
2 tsp. powdered Licorice
Use one of two methods:
Mix all of these herbs together in a small bowl. Then carefully fill size 00 gelatin capsules or vegi-caps (available at health food stores) with the powdered herbs. Take 1-2 capsules 3 times a day
Or
The powdered mixture can also be taken in milk. Stir 1 teaspoon of the mixture into 1 cup of warmed milk and drink up to 3 times a day.
9. Herbal Remedies for Insomnia
Uses: Restlessness, Insomnia
Comments: 4 tsp. Valerian tincture
2 tsp. Passionflower tincture
2 tsp. Ashwaganda tincture
1 tsp. Catnip tincture
1 tsp. Hops tincture
1 tsp. Chamomile tincture
1 tsp. Spearmint or Peppermint tincture
Use one of three methods.
Combine all of these together and store in a 1 oz amber glass bottle. Take 1-2 dropperfuls before bed or throughout the day at 4 hour intervals to promote relaxation and a restful nights sleep.
Or
The herbs can also be combined in the same proportions in their dried form. A tea can then be made by steeping 1 tsp. per cup of boiling water.
Or
For convenience, the herbs can also be combined in their dry state and encapsulated in size 00 gelatin capsules or vegi-caps (available at healthefood stores). Take 1-2 capsules before bed.
10. Herbal Remedies for Hyperactivity
Uses: Restlessness, Hyperactivity
Comments: 1/2 tsp. Red Raspberry leaves
1/2 tsp. Lemon Balm leaves
1/2 tsp. Alfalfa leaf
1/2 tsp. Licorice root
1/2 tsp. Anise seed
1/2 tsp. Rose Hips
1 cup white grape juice
3 cups water
Bring the water to a boil, then pour the water over the herbs in a tea pot. Cover and let steep for 15-20 minutes. Strain off the herbs and discard. Cool the mixture. Stir in the white grape juice. Chill as desired. Serve as an alternative to soda pop and sugared drinks.
For Frozen Punch Popsicles:Additional grape juice can be added (up to 1 cup), then the liquid can be poured into popsicle or ice cube trays and frozed for a summertime treat. Be sure to insert popsicle sticks into the cube divisions of using the ice cube tray method.
